The Gender and Sexuality Studies program has been the most influential educational path I have entered. I have learned so much about myself and I have grown into an empowered feminist with the drive to share this knowledge with others. Moreover, I have gained the opportunities to learn about other interesctions of gender and sexuality, ultimately understanding that these concepts are fluid ones that impact each individual in diverse manners.
I believe that each student should take at least one gender studies course to broaden their perspectives and hopefully help break down the barriers of oppression that harm too many people. The department itself is constantly hosting speakers and events (usually with free food) to allow for further engagement. As a psychology major with ambitions of becoming a therapist, having a background in gender and sexuality studies has served as a crucial component in my holistic and well rounded education.
